Mr. Vandenburg received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1992. Mr. Vandenburg began his legal practice at the trial boutique law firm of Howarth & Smith in Los Angeles. While practicing with Howarth & Smith Mr. Vandenburg was involved in the defense of various manufacturers in products liability actions, including asbestos personal injury litigation thoroughout Southern California and the defense of Suzuki Motor Corporation in high profile personal injury rollover litigation in State and Federal Courts in Georgia, Florida, West Virginia, New York and California. In addition, Mr. Vandenburg also assisted on antitrust litigation representing 14 NFL football players suing the National Football League for antitrust violations, and high profile probate litigation involving the Estate of Doris Duke. After practicing at Howarth & Smith for six years, Mr. Vandenburg was employed as a consulting attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council in 1998 and 1999, where he assisted on Clean Air Act litigation and Proposition 65 litigation. In August 1999 Mr. Vandenburg began practicing law with the founding partners of Dongell Lawrence Finney LLP.

Mr. Vandenburg’s practice focuses on environmental, toxic tort (including toxic mold exposure, asbestos exposure, and others) and construction litigation. Mr. Vandenburg has handled numerous complex environmental, toxic tort and construction matters in both State and Federal Courts for public and private entities throughout California. Mr. Vandenburg's experience includes litigation matters involving landfills, ports, commercial developments, residential developments, university campuses, government research facilities, defense contracting facilities, manufacturing facilities, and current and former dry cleaner sites. Mr. Vandenburg has represented numerous public entities in such matters, including the Regents of the University of California; El Dorado County, California; the City of Inglewood, California; and the City of Santa Rosa, California. In addition, Mr. Vandenburg has represented many corporate clients in complex environmental, toxic tort, and construction matters in State Court in Northern and Southern California and in the Federal Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California.
