The former head of the Commercial Law Group of a large, 100-plus lawyer Midwestern law firm, Ms. Shields also practiced abroad for four years performing corporate and transactional services in the telecommunications industry where she developed a substantial expertise in international law.  Ms. Shields concentrates her work in the Firm’s Business Transactions and Real Property Practice Areas.

Ms. Shields has been responsible for the organization and launch of telecom companies in four European countries. She frequently represents parties in the sale of businesses, as well as corporate formation. Her experience spans a wide range of industries from technology, industrial and manufacturing through sales, marketing and service corporations. Ms. Shields has also represented creditors and debtors on a national basis in all types of secured and unsecured transactions and litigation and served as a member of the United States Bankruptcy Trustee Panel.

Ms. Shields’ litigation experience includes business and commercial litigation in the federal and state courts. Ms. Shields has represented parties in a variety of commercial, financial and corporate litigation.

A 1986 cum laude graduate of Hamline University School of Law, Ms. Shields was an Editor of the Law Review and a member of the Silver Gavel Society. She was actively involved in the Minnesota Bar Association, serving as officer and President of the Bankruptcy Section. She is actively involved in the local legal community, serving on the Board of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, among others.
