Mr. Hetey’s practice focuses on civil litigation representing and defending individuals and entities (including local, regional and national companies) in construction related litigation, general insurance defense matters, self insured matters, arbitrations and mediations. Prior to receiving his license to practice law, Mr. Hetey worked in a variety of construction disciplines as well as hazardous waste removal and he now utilizes that experience in his construction defense practice. Mr. Hetey’s current practice areas include commercial and residential complex and non complex construction defect litigation, premises liability, product defect, auto and trucking accident defense. Mr. Hetey has defended construction industry clients in well over 100 lawsuits certified as Complex Litigation. Mr. Hetey has handled over 100 lawsuits in Nevada’s Mandatory Arbitration Program governing Civil Suits with Case Values of $50,000.00 or less and has represented Defendants in Jury and Non-Jury Trials involving six and seven figure demands. Mr. Hetey was born and raised in Syracuse, New York in 1970. Mr. Hetey attended the State University of New York at Buffalo receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude in 1992. Mr. Hetey went on to attend Albany Law School of Union University in Albany, New York, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1995. While attending Albany law School, Mr. Hetey received a student license to practice law representing indigent children with physical and mental challenges and was awarded the Albany Law School Disability Clinic Law Prize. During law school, Mr. Hetey was given the opportunity to work as a law clerk with a reputable civil litigation defense firm in Reno, Nevada where he began his legal practice after passing the Nevada Bar in 1995. Mr. Hetey subsequently relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where he has continued to practice civil defense litigation in a variety of areas since 1995. Prior to joining Dongell Lawrence Finney, Mr. Hetey was a partner in a firm with offices in Northern and Southern Nevada where he practiced for a decade. Mr. Hetey is licensed to practice in all Nevada State and Federal Courts and is licensed in the State of North Carolina.
