DAFNA HOPENSTAND, ASSOCIATE

 

Dafna Hopenstand brings considerable experience in general litigation, and with an academic background in biology and environmental science, specializes in litigation and transactional environmental and land use law.

As an environmental litigator, Ms. Hopenstand manages environmental claims including Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) litigation cases, and common law claims including indemnification and insurance matters. Ms. Hopenstand also manages land use and real estate litigation in matters such as eminent domain and inverse condemnation, boundary disputes, and land use appeals. Ms. Hopenstand works with clients such as public entities, oil companies, property owners, real estate developers, manufacturers, retailers, and small businesses.

As a transactional attorney, Ms. Hopenstand navigates the myriad of federal, state, and local regulations to represent businesses in all aspects of environmental, real estate, and land use administrative matters, including contract negotiation, real estate transactions, and compliance issues. Ms. Hopenstand also works with local municipalities and public agencies on environmental compliance and land development projects, and oversees land use entitlements.  

Ms. Hopenstand received her undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received the Samson Fellowship.  Ms. Hopenstand is a member of the State Bars of California and Wisconsin.
