Mr. Johnson graduated from the University of Kansas with honors in 1994, with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, a Bachelor of Arts in Russian, and membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He briefly worked as a teacher in the District Intern program for Los Angeles Unified School District before attending graduate school at the University of Southern California, from which he received his Master of Arts degree in pure mathematics in 2000. While at USC, Mr. Johnson served as a student senator and president of the Mathematics Graduate Student Association. In 2000 Mr. Johnson graduated cum laude from Pepperdine Law School. While at Pepperdine, he served as president of the Environmental Law Society, actively participated in moot court and advocacy competitions, won a best brief award in Pepperdine’s Dalsimer Moot Court competition, received a CALI award for earning the highest grade in his Constitutional Law seminar, and served on law review. Mr. Johnson also represented President Clinton in Pepperdine’s mock impeachment hearings. He continues to judge moot court competitions at Pepperdine. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Johnson worked with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and interned with the Natural Resources Defense Council. Mr. Johnson is a member of the environmental section of the California State Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. His primary areas of practice include environmental compliance and litigation, with emphasis on hazardous and toxic substances, air quality regulation, and groundwater contamination. For the past two consecutive years, he has been honored with selection by his peers as a Southern California Super Lawyer - Rising Star.
